My opinion of humankind in general took a massive hit this morning when I opened up my web browser learned of the Columbia Shuttle tragedy.
I don't watch much television (okay, maybe I have my moments) so I went to CNN.com to find out what the hell happened. This is when I stumbled upon a photograph of two people, a man and a woman--the man appeared rather somber-faced, but the woman was smiling--a smile about halfway between mysterious and just plain stupid. In the foreground was the reason for her dipshit facial expression: an artifact from the Columbia, which presumbably she, or the man had found. I can't recall now if this was the flight helmet or some other personal effect, but my point is, it wasn't a fucking marlin that had just been hauled up and onto the deck of a sportfishing boat. It was evidence of a horrible, catastrophic accident, one so unthinkably magnificent in its awfulness that not only were there no survivors, just trying to identify the remains--scattered over a nearly 100 mile area--would be difficult, if not impossible. That helmet was painfully personal, and I felt bad just looking at it.
So how the fuck is it that someone could show if off like a fucking trophy and worse yet, smile? Stupid, inbred, white trash retard bitch. I'd have knocked her senseless (assuming she had any to begin with) if I were a relative of any member of the Columbia Shuttle crew and within arms' reach of that--woman.
No news is good news, as "they" say, and by the same token, it seems as if good news is no news.
I think Don Henley had it pretty well down pat when he wrote--and performed--"Dirty Laundry"--
'and the bubble-headed bleached blonde
comes on at five
she'll tell you 'bout the plane crash
with a gleam in her eyes,
it's interesting when people die,
give us dirty laundry'
I think one form of hell would be to spend eternity, forced to watch the "reality TV", most news broadcasts....and anything to do with "pro wrestling".....
